Aside from shopping around and picking a hotel in the right location, there are a couple of other things you can do to get the most for your money. First, don’t be afraid to ask for an upgrade.

Many times, hotels have better rooms available than the one you initially booked. If the hotel is not near capacity, often times these rooms can be had for a minimal additional charge, or sometimes even free.

If you are interested in getting a suite or larger room, don’t be afraid to ask the hotel for an upgrades when you check in.

Second, make sure you arrive at the hotel as early as possible on the night of your stay.
These great rooms usually don’t last long, and your chances of getting an upgrade decrease as more guests check in.
